Reddick died unexpectedly at home in March.

The late Lance Reddick’s family is disputing the cause of death that was documented on his death certificate.

Reddick was found dead at home on March 17. According to TMZ, the John Wick actor's passing was a direct result of ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, which cause a narrowing of the arteries and restrictions of blood flow and oxygen to the heart.

Now, his longtime attorney James Hornstein, who is still representing Reddick's wife, Stephanie, is countering the declaration. The lawyer issued a statement to Fox News Digital on Thursday, April 6, shortly after TMZ broke the news, in which he said that "the information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle."

According to Hornstein, Reddick was incredibly fit, exercising daily at home and requiring guaranteed access to gym facilities in every contract. "He ate as if a dietitian was monitoring his every meal," he also wrote.

Additionally, he claimed there was no autopsy performed before Reddick was cremated, and that the actor, who was 60 at the time of his death, had never been previously diagnosed with heart disease.

Because of these factors, he said, "On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family."

Reddick's unexpected death came in the middle of press for the fourth installment of the John Wick film series, and several of his castmates paid tribute to him at the film's Los Angeles premiere just days later.
