Why Kylie and Kendall Jenner Skipped Khloé Kardashian's Big Fourth of July Party

Despite the very much ongoing coronavirus pandemic and soaring COVID-19 infections in Los Angeles, the Kardashian-Jenners are back to their pre-pandemic ways for the most part, having lavish parties and going on luxurious vacations this summer. (This goes against state policy: California, for what it's worth, has prohibited social gatherings and non-essential travel.)

Fourth of July weekend was no exception, with Khloé Kardashian's reportedly back-on boyfriend Tristan Thompson throwing the family's big party for Independence Day. Kourtney, Khloé, and their mother Kris Jenner were spotted at the bash, according to TMZ.

Missing from the festivities was Kylie and Kendall Jenner. The two youngest sisters made their whereabouts abundantly clear on their Instagram accounts in the hours after the party. The girls were on vacation with their friend (and go-to platonic party date) Fai Khadra. They were maskless in their Instagrams but in the desert in a seemingly isolated spot. It's not exactly perfect adherence to California's shelter-in-home order, but at least they social distanced...?

Thompson hosting the Kardashians' go-to Fourth of July party comes days after multiple outlets reported that he and Khloé are giving their romance a shot again. Thompson is the father of Khloé's daughter True. They broke up because of Thompson cheating on Khloé multiple times, including during her pregnancy.

A source told People last week that Kardashian and Thompson are "giving their relationship another try. Tristan is working hard to prove himself and has been a great dad to True."

E! was told by its own source that "Khloé seems very happy with where things are right now. He seems committed and has made changes. Obviously Khloé is hesitant and is taking it very slow. The time they have had together during quarantine has been very special and meaningful."
