Kate Middleton will no longer be joining her husband Prince William at tonight's Tusk Conservation Awards, a Kensington Palace spokesperson has just announced. The award ceremony would have been Kate's second evening event this week. On Monday, she and William went to the Royal Variety Performance where Kate wore a black lace gown by Alexander McQueen.

The spokesperson told HarpersBazaar.com that the Duchess "is no longer able to attend the Tusk awards due to the children." Further details weren't given, although the spokesperson noted that to make up for her absence, Kate "met with finalists at a tea at Kensington Palace this afternoon."

Kate was last at the Tusk Awards in 2018. She wore a teal Jenny Packham dress then with her hair down. William wore a black suit alongside her with a commemorative poppy pin. He will still be at the awards this evening:

The Duke of Cambridge's appearance comes just one day after People ran a cover story on his and Kate's relationship with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The outlet was told by sources that while there is some competitiveness between Harry and William, there is none between Kate and Meghan.

In fact, the women have struggled with the feud rumors that the tabloids have created about them. “What’s challenging is when they are pitted against each other,” People's source said. “That’s been challenging to both of them. Meghan has her life, Kate has hers.”

Meghan and Harry are currently believed to be on a six week break from public duties. They will be spending their Christmas with Meghan's mother rather than the Queen and the royal family. Meghan and Harry spent their last two Christmases at Sandringham with Kate, William, and the other royals.

Kate and William have not announced their holiday plans yet, although it has been reported they will be with the Queen at Sandringham.
