Why Kanye West Might Be Barred From Visiting New Wife's Family in Australia

The rapper is reportedly planning a trip to Melbourne to visit Bianca Censori's family—but his plans may be in jeopardy.

Kanye West could face a giant road block when he attempts to enter Australia to visit the family of his new wife Bianca Censori, and apparently it has everything to do with his blatant hate speech over the past few months.

The 45-year-old rapper is reportedly planning a trip to Censori's hometown in Melbourne, though he could potentially be barred from even entering Australia over his antisemitic comments in the past.

As Parade previously reported, West has been widely condemned after repeatedly making antisemitic remarks and even publicly praising Adolf Hitler. He ended up losing his billionaire status after multiple brands he partnered with—including Adidas, GAP and Balenciaga—cut ties with him as a result of his comments.

According to a report from TMZ, Australian government officials said that there is a chance West could be barred from entering the country at all based off his oppressive remarks, as Australia apparently has a history of turning away people with antisemitic beliefs.

"People like that who've applied to get visas to get into Australia in the past have been rejected," said Australian Minister for Education Jason Clare, per CNN. "I expect that if he does apply he would have to go through the same process and answer the same questions that they did.”

It is not currently clear whether West has applied for a visa, though the odds aren't looking great for him even if he does.

Peter Wertheim, co-chief executive officer of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, also met with officials this week to argue for an entry ban for West.

"We had a sympathetic hearing,” Wertheim said, according to CNN. “We’ve made the case that this particular individual does not meet the character test and that it would be in the national interest not to grant him a visa and we set out our reasons in some detail in that letter.”

An entry ban wouldn't be the best way for West and Censori to start off their new relationship after tying the knot in a private ceremony earlier this month.
