Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin technically got married Thursday in a New York City courthouse, but do not expect them to wear any wedding bands to prove it for maybe even months. A source told People that “they are not gonna wear wedding rings until after their wedding. It will be in the next few months.”

In fact, the decision to legally be married was a relatively spontaneous thing. “They decided last week to get married,” People's source said. “They made an appointment [at the court] and seem happy about it. Some family members knew, but they didn’t tell friends.”

The civil ceremony was just for convenience because they were ready to be legally wed: “It was easier for them to get the legal stuff out of the way now and to get married," the source continued. "It was more of a necessary ceremony to make it legal. It doesn’t seem like it was a big deal to them.”

On Friday, Baldwin tweeted that she and Bieber weren't married yet, then took down the tweet hours after People reported that yes, Jailey technically did, but they don't consider themselves married until they have a religious ceremony. TMZ previously reported that the religious ceremony could be as early as next week in Canada, but the couple is currently kissing and being generally cuddly in London while Baldwin works during fashion week. People reported today that Jailey hasn't even chosen a wedding destination, in fact.
