Jared Leto, Pat Sajak

Last night's Wheel of Fortune looked a little bit different, as Jared Leto stood in for Pat Sajak as host–even if it was only for a brief moment.

The Monday, April 1, episode began with the game show's longtime announcer, Jim Thornton, warmly introducing the "stars of our show… Jared Leto and Vanna White." The duo then entered the showroom and walked across the stage arm-in-arm.

"Have a great show, and see you soon," the House of Gucci actor told his counterpart, 67-year-old White, as he joined the three contestants by the wheel. "Alright, everyone, grab those devices. It’s time to give away some money," Leto joked.

The show continued on as normal, with the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman going on to get the game started by introducing the first clue. "A $1000 in our first toss-up," the 52-year-old Oscar winner said, adding, "the category is On The Map."

Once the puzzle was solved, Leto disappeared and was soon replaced by the series regular, 77-year-old Sajak.

The show then played out as normal, with Sajak hosting the rest of the episode and Thornton never mentioning the musician–or Sajak's short-lived absence–again.

Though, knowing yesterday was April Fools' Day, the funny switcheroo was nothing more than a prank on the audience.

Last night's game was Sajak's last opportunity to pull one over on fans for the April 1 holiday, as he's set to retire at the end of this season.

Unfortunately for Leto, his job hosting the fan-favorite game show appeared to be a one-and-done deal as the gig has already been passed on to media personality Ryan Seacrest.
