BTS is known for creating chart-topping, record-breaking hits and shutting down the stage when they perform. The K-Pop idols keep their ARMY up to speed on the comings and goings with their annual BTS Festa event, where they open up to their fans about what's next for the group in honor of their anniversary. Most recently, BTS scored four nominations at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best K-Pop, Best Choreography, Best Metaverse Performance, and Best Visual Effects.

The group is no stranger to racking up moon people trophies — for four consecutive ceremonies, BTS has gone home with the moon person for MTV's Group of The Year award. Despite their numerous wins at the VMAs, the Bangtan boys were noticeably absent this year.

BTS hasn't officially confirmed why they skipped their big night, but on June 26, the group announced that they were taking a temporary hiatus to focus on their solo endeavors during their annual Real Bangtan Dinner. While some members, like J-Hope, have already released new singles and graced the stage at the Lollapalooza music festival as a solo performer, other members, like Jin, are still figuring out the direction they want to go for their upcoming efforts.

We may have missed BTS at this year's awards, but if their solo projects are as epic as their collective albums, we already know they'll be back next year with a lengthy list of MTV Video Music Award nominations to show for it.
