Actress Calista Flockhart hasn't flown a vintage plane with her husband since 2015.

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart's relationship has stood the test of time for nearly 21 years now, but for the last eight or so, the couple adopted some changes.

Ford, 80, told The Hollywood Reporter that following his 2015 plane crash, Flockhart, 58, doesn't always fly with him now.

“I changed a lot of things in my life,” he said. "My wife does not fly with me in vintage airplanes anymore—she will in others. I certainly don’t want to have to recover from that kind of accident again. It was really hard on my family, and it was hard on me."

The incident the Shrinking star is referring to occurred just shy of 10 years ago when the actor was piloting a vintage World War II training plane before it crash-landed on a California golf course.

The cause of the crash was determined to be related to an engine malfunction. In a statement shared with NBC News at the time, Ford's publicist reported the legendary actor was “banged up” and transported to a nearby hospital.

The aftermath of the scary accident and the amount of general anesthetic needed during Ford's hospital stay resulted in what doctors called "retrograde amnesia," so he has little memory of the accident–but can recall the moments leading up to the crash and the engine failure very well, detailing the incident during an Oct. 2015 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The star also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show, where he explained the extent of his injuries to the show's host, telling Ellen DeGeneres that he arrived at the hospital with a shattered pelvis, broken back, dislocated right ankle and a significant head laceration.

Despite the traumatic event, Ford said it doesn't stop him from getting back in the air and enjoying his piloting hobby.

“Well, you never do anything perfect. That’s a dangerous concept. So you’re always looking to see what you did,” he explained. “Flying is especially like that. After every flight, you can analyze the flight and say, ‘Remember when I did that? That was a rookie mistake.’”

Ford concluded, “I went back to flying. I know what happened. So that’s part of the reason [I went back]. There was a mechanical issue with the airplane I could not have known about or attended to in any way. So in the words of the great philosopher Jimmy Buffett: S**t happens.”

Ford married Flockhart in 2010 after nearly a decade of dating. The two were rumored to have met at the 2002 Golden Globes and made their first public appearance as a couple during the Sept. 2002 Venice International Film Festival.

Ford proposed seven years later, during Valentine's Day weekend in 2009, and the two said "I do" about a year later, in a June 2010 ceremony in New Mexico, where Ford was filming Cowboys & Aliens.

The couple doesn't share biological children, but they do have a "modern family" of sorts, melding Flockhart's son Liam, whom she adopted a year before she began dating the Indiana Jones star, and Ford's four adult children: Ben, Georgia, Malcolm and Williard.
