Why the Friends Reunion Has Been Put on Hold

Why the Friends Reunion Has Been Put on Hold

You might have to wait a little longer to see the Friends cast all together again.

Though a reunion was floated in the form of an HBO Max unscripted special, HBO Max Chief Content Officer Kevin Reilly said on Wednesday that while most parties involved were certainly interested, it's been difficult to actually get a green light.

"There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t seem to get that interest aligned to push the button on it," he said at the Television Critics Association tour. "Today, unfortunately, it’s a maybe."

It makes sense: Gathering all six cast members can't be an easy feat, especially with how busy everyone has been lately with projects of their own. Getting a big ensemble cast together has also been a reason why another season of Big Little Lies is unlikely to happen.

So unfortunately, we'll have to wait a little longer to see everyone back together at Central Perk. In the meantime, we'll keep subsisting off mini-reunion photos, thanks to Jennifer Aniston's Instagram.
