The original study concerning the Mediterranean diet is under scrutiny because of several factors, including that the trial might not have been as randomized as required.
Jim: I once watched Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and AOC examine a hilltop and the pond at the bottom of the hill. They observed that the hilltop was very dry, but the pond was quite full of water. They set out to correct this inequity. They recruited a bunch of workers from the Home Depot parking lot to carry the water from the pond to the hilltop, and then pour it out onto the ground until the depth of water on the hilltop was equal to the depth of the pond. The three politicians would each take a small sip from each bucket before the worker carried it up the hill and poured it out. After four years there was still no pond on the hilltop, there was less water in the pond, and the three politicians had become bloated. If you took all the money from the richest Americans and gave it to the poorest Americans, in 10 years the formerly rich would be wealthier than the formerly poor, and the newly rich would have become poor once again. But don't let these realities get in the way of trying to entice poor people from voting for a transfer of wealth.
