Elizabeth Debicki fully warrants the moniker "fashion darling." Not only did she play the ultimate style muse with her turn as Princess Diana in the final installment of The Crown, but she keeps it cool off-screen, too. Her effortless elegance and avant-garde red-carpet style have landed her on countless Pinterest mood boards and best-dressed lists (including in this very magazine). You can also find her in the front row, the industry's true stamp of approval, at Paris Fashion Week.

This year, the Australian actress, who is Dior's ambassador for fine jewelry and the face of the La Rose Dior collection, attended the brand's Fall/Winter 2024-2025 runway show at the Tuileries Gardens — wearing head-to-toe Dior, of course. Ahead, Debicki tells InStyle how it all came together, the inspiration behind her look, and her favorite shade of red lipstick.

"I had a fitting with Elizabeth Saltzman, my stylist in LA, and we had a few options, suits and a micro mini dress, but the dress I chose really stood out to me because I had not worn anything like it before.

The silhouette to me is very classic Dior, and honestly, we chose it because when we put it on it fit like a glove, and we did not have to do any alterations — it just felt comfortable. The pockets are great, and it's just a really lovely shape.

It made me feel comfortable and confident. I felt like myself. It does not have a lot of layers, things coming off it, or things moving around once you put it on; it feels quite solid. So that means you can relax when you are having your photo taken from all different angles and I felt like myself... A very fancy version of myself."

The Accessories

"The Dior Jolie bag is a new style. It has a gorgeous pearl in the clasp. It’s just really elegant and fits everything you need for a show, like your hand sanitizer, phone, and a Ricola. And I needed a coat because it's cold! Its winter. And I just realized the pearls on the shoes match the pearl on the bag, so there you go!"

The Jewelry

"I chose the jewelry because I just adore that piece. I wore it to the Globes recently. It's part of the Bois de Rose collection. I’m lucky enough to have done the campaign for that collection, and I just think those pieces are so creative and timeless at the same time, which Victoire does so well.

It is a piece that sits very well on your body. It does not move once you place [it on]. It is just like wearing a little piece of art. I also love it because there are a lot of diamonds on it, but its also a complete thing in and of itself: You don’t need to add a lot of other jewelry with it when you are wearing it. So I like the simplicity of that."

"I am really one for as much peace as can be achieved. I work with lovely people who are extremely good at their job, and the room tends to be very quiet, and everyone just has their tea or coffee. Sometimes, we play a little bit of music, but mostly, we just catch up and chat.

I’m traveling so much at the moment and going to lots of events, which tend to be so full of people and noise and color and sound, so I really try to unwind while I’m getting ready so I have all the energy I need when I walk out the door. That’s always what I do! I burn some candles and open the windows. I want everyone to have a nice time really and not feel stressed — and always make sure we have plenty of time because there is nothing worse than rushing out the door.

I feel like when you go to a show like this or a carpet, you are a canvas for other amazing artists to do their work....makeup artists, hair artists, and stylists. So, I always want to make sure everybody has enough time and that they feel relaxed."

The Skin Prep

"I bring along all the usual things that we need, like a good cleanser; you really need your skin to be so clean before you do that amount of makeup. I am a deep lover of French pharmacy products like water spray. The other thing I adore, which I recently discovered, is the Prestige La Micro-Huile de Rose Advanced Serum by Dior.

It's really hydrating. I just flew in from LA before this show, and your skin just gets so dehydrated on planes. So, I love that oil serum. It just really helps your skin come back to life. I love an eyepatch, I use this brand called ToGoSpa, it’s really simple and I put them in the fridge. They don’t have any scent on them, which my eyes prefer. My beautiful friends in LA run a gorgeous spa called Carasoin and they do this really beautiful moisturizer, they make it themselves and I slather myself in that. I also love Joanna Vargas's sheet face masks."

"The makeup inspiration really was Dior. The dress feels so classic to me, so I just wanted to do a classic face with good skin. I try to do as little on my skin as possible, I love when you can see people’s skin and its not covered by makeup because I just think skin is so gorgeous.

So, we did as little as we could get away with and a little bit of liner, no flick. And a really nice deep red Dior Beauty lip, I have really pinkish white skin, so I like a red lip that is really deep and has a blue tone in it. Because the show was a day look, I wanted it to be glamorous but also comfortable and not too bold or heavy.

"For the hair I just wanted to do something nice and fresh. Nothing too structured."

"I actually adored the very first look that came down the runway. It was this trench blazer and a great pair of trousers with a white shirt. It was so chic. I love that the trench coat is coming back. There was a pair of trousers and a kind of sleeveless scoop neck top in checkered black and white. It was very mod."

Her After-Party Plans

"Dinner! Which I am about to get ready for. Dinner, eating, something extravagant for dessert, and then sleep before I travel again tomorrow. I think one of the best things about coming to fashion week apart from seeing the gorgeous show is eating all the gorgeous French food, so that’s what I am going to go do!"
