Why Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park Is Closing Soon

The Florida park will be closing later this month.

Disney World's Blizzard Beach is shutting down–but don't worry, it's only temporary.

The water park will be closing its doors on March 19, 2023, for refurbishment, according to the park. The new closure comes just a few months after the shutdown of Typhoon Lagoon, another one of Disney's water parks located in Orlando, Florida.

Luckily, Typhoon Lagoon–which closed in November–is reopening its doors the same day Blizzard Beach will shut down. The two parks have not operated simultaneously since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020.

Blizzard Beach last shut down at the beginning of this year but reopened its doors in November. With the reopening came a makeover where the park added a new Frozen theme at Tike's Peak–a section in the water park that is dedicated to children.

Tikes Peak features a ton of miniature snow-banked slides, snow chutes, and plenty of other attractions for your kiddos, and with the new theme in place, familiar faces have popped up for everyone to enjoy!

Anna and Elsa's igloo castle from the Frozen film is now featured in the section where kids can engage in playful battles with pop-up water jets, and Olaf and his Snowgie friends can also be seen hanging out in the warm wading pool.

According to a Disney food blog, the park also announced that some Frozen-themed food items would be coming to the water park. The treats have yet to be revealed, but we're sure it must be something Frozen for everyone to enjoy.

While there is no word on when Blizzard Beach will be reopening this time around, you can still enjoy Typhoon Lagoon if you're looking for a place to cool off after exploring the other parks that Disney has to offer.
