Soccer fans were left stunned and concerned after ESPN commentator Shaka Hislop collapsed while live on the air on July 22.

Hislop, who spent 15 years playing professional soccer, is a dual national citizen and has played for both England and Trinidad & Tobago. He retired from professional soccer in 2007.

It's unclear why Hislop collapsed ahead of the match between Real Madrid and AC Milan, but The Hill has reported that temperatures soared above 90 degrees on Saturday. Here is everything we know about how Shaka Hislop is doing now.

What happened to Shaka Hislop?

Hislop was participating in the pregame discussion ahead of a match between Real Madrid and AC Milan when he fell toward co-host Dan Thomas.

Thomas was filmed yelling, "Shak! Shak! We need some help. We need medical!" before ESPN cut to commercial.

Is Shaka Hislop OK?

After the game's kickoff, Dan Thomas tweeted that Hislop was doing better. He shared, "Shaka is conscious. The medics are looking after him."

Thomas also gave an update on the air and explained, "My mate Shaka, not here, but as it stands, it’s good news. He’s conscious, he’s talking. I think he’s a little embarrassed about it all, he’s apologized profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him."

He continued, "As you can imagine, seeing that happen live, there can’t be many more things that can scare you amongst a family, but we spoke to his wife and things are looking OK."

Who did Shaka Hislop play for?

Hislop played professional soccer for 15 years. Before turning pro, he played college soccer for Howard University, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Hislop's professional teams have included Reading, Newcastle, and West Ham. He ended his career in the United States, where he played for FC Dallas.

Did Shaka Hislop play in the World Cup?

Hislop served as the goalie for Trinidad & Tobago in 2006, which was also the first year that the team appeared in the World Cup.
