Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan broke the internet's collective heart by announcing their split after nearly nine years of marriage-and while their joint statement insisted that drama was *not* a factor in the breakup, there does appear to have been some tension in their relationship. Namely, Channing doesn't spend a huge amount of time at home.

"He left for weeks at a time for trips with friends," a source close to Jenna tells Us Weekly. "Jenna wanted him to go out and do the things he wanted to do and was always supportive. But it became clear that he enjoyed being away. She gave him all the space he wanted, but it wasn’t good for their marriage. They tried to find a new happy and a new way of being that worked for both of them, but ultimately they couldn’t find that place."

Another source says that "Things had turned more into a friendship between Jenna and Channing," and that "They were constantly traveling for work and it turned out that they were better apart and not together romantically anymore."

Page Six also confirms that time apart is what ultimately ended the marriage, with a source saying, "Channing has been working non-stop, with four movies announced for 2018 alone. It is hard on a marriage to be apart so much, especially when you have a young child. Plus Jenna is in pre-production for the movie, Berlin I Love You."

For their part, Channing and Jenna claim "There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision-just two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible."
