The singer released a YouTube audio clip explaining why some things just aren't worth it.

After finding new-found freedom, Britney Spears has apparently been offered "lots of money" to publicly tell her story.

In a 22-minute YouTube audio clip posted on Sunday, Aug. 28, the "Toxic" singer revealed she had the opportunity to do a Meghan Markle-style tell-all interview with the media queen herself, Oprah Winfrey, and shut it down.

The audio recording discussed the "abuse" she experienced as a result of her 13-year conservatorship, as well as the reasons why she decided not to share her story in that type of setting with Winfrey, or anyone else for that matter.

"I get nothing out of sharing all of this," the 40-year-old newlywed said. "I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people [for] lots and lots of money, but it's insane. I don't want any of it. For me, it's beyond a sit-down proper interview."

The pop singer also spoke on feeling like her family abandoned her during her career and how it deeply affected her. "They literally killed me. They threw me away," Spears continued in the video. "I was performing for thousands of people at night in Vegas, the rush of being a performer, the laughter, the respect… I was a machine. I was a f***ing machine, not even human almost. It was insane."

Though she is currently turning down interviews, she reasoned on how to heal if she doesn't communicate what she's been through. "I'm sharing this because I want people to know I'm only human," the Elton John collaborator said, adding, "I do feel victimized after these experiences, and how can I mend this if I don't talk about it?"

The singer reportedly opted for a book instead to convey the fullness of her truth. The $15 million publishing deal for the bombshell memoir, set to be published by Simon & Schuster, is one of the largest in history.

As of July 2022, the tell-all had allegedly been completed, however there are delays with the originally-planned January 2023 release. Due to a decrease in paper supply and an ongoing manufacturing labor shortage at paper plants as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, no new unveil date has been confirmed as of yet, per TMZ.
