A Blake Lively red-carpet appearance is always something to look forward to, and so it came as sad news last night when the actress revealed she will not be delighting us with her presence at the Met Gala this year.

While at Tiffany & Co.'s Fifth Avenue reopening party in New York City Thursday evening, Lively was asked by People if fans would see her on the carpet at fashion's biggest night. "You will not," she said. "But I will be watching."

The interviewer then complemented the actress' 2022 Met Gala ensemble, to which Lively responded, "Thank you, that's very sweet. I'll be wearing that on my couch on Monday."

The Gossip Girl alum did not go into further details about why she will be tuning into the gala from her couch on May 1, but it doesn't come as much surprise that she would stay home, as she and husband Ryan Reynolds recently welcomed their fourth child.

Still, they will be greatly missed.

The It Hollywood couple have become red-carpet royalty thanks to their stunning coordinating ensembles over the years. For the 2022 Met Gala, Lively embraced the "Gilded Glamour" theme by channeling the Statue of Liberty. She arrived in a shimmering rose-gold gown from Atelier Versace which featured a layered puff train that later unraveled into a cascading teal train (a reflection of the statue's color change over the years). Reynolds, meanwhile, looked sharp beside his wife in a dark brown velvet tuxedo from Ralph Lauren.

And at the 2021 Met Gala—their second-ever Met Gala appearance, Lively and Reynolds wore coordinating blue ensembles in line with the evening's theme, “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” Lively looked goddess-like in a shimmering gold, long-sleeve ruched Atelier Versace gown featuring blue feather detailing at the train. Reynolds, meanwhile, wore a dark blue tuxedo paired with a blue velvet bowtie that matched Lively's train.
