While it’s long been known as the app where you can send sexy pics to people you like while knowing they’ll be gone in a flash, Snapchat is now being used more and more as a guilt-free way of cheating, Mic reports.

Mic cites the countless Reddit threads full of people who found out their partner was swapping sexy photos or talking to exes on Snapchat as evidence that this seems to be something that is becoming more and more common. The people in the Reddit threads also have no clue if they should confront their partner about the issue because they’re not even sure what they’re dealing with (because hello, gone in 10 seconds). Plus, unlike communications on Instagram or Facebook, no one can see your exchanges but you, so the secret is more easily kept.

People in relationships told Mic they loved sending snaps because they could request to see people’s bodies from certain angles or have strangers tell them they were hot, and didn’t think what they were doing was wrong because they never met in person.

Some even likened it to watching porn, but that comparison is bizarre on multiple levels. The relationship between the viewer and the porn actor is none at all. The actor is filming in one room, totally unaware you exist, and they will likely never meet you or know you watched the movie. They’re not a friend of yours who made a private porn for you to enjoy because they know you personally.

While some might argue there are worse forms of cheating out there than sending nude photos to strangers, what counts as cheating is probably something that should be discussed between both people in the relationship, instead of just one person who thinks they know best.
