If you’re into crime dramas, you’ll love playing this new murder mystery game at home

Like a lot of people, I love listening to a true crime podcast, watching a crime drama series and even watching shows that poke fun at the fandom like Only Murders In The Building or Based on a True Story. The one thing I haven’t done yet is host my own murder mystery party. However, I was recently introduced to a game that can help. The new murder mystery game is called Who Killed Mia?

The game centers around Mia Star, a social media influencer and model killed backstage at an awards show while on livestream. It’s tragic yet the type of mystery that sadly feels fitting in today’s world.

The game comes with three packs of physical evidence, including photos, police reports and security camera images. However, a big chunk of it is digital — you need a smartphone to scan QR codes that lead you to videos (including one of the fictitious murder), allow you to hack into Mia’s text messages and more. Like a real crime, not all the evidence is relevant to solving the case, but you get to look through it all before deciding who the killer is.

The game can be played between as many players as you want, but ages 17 and up are recommended. You could even play the game on your own — there are no other players required. But it’s definitely more fun with friends.

Who Killed Mia comes from the makers of WHAT DO YOU MEME? and TikTok’s favorite Same Same But Different card game. It just launched last week, though, and you can get it on Amazon for $29.97.

One thing to keep in mind is that once you’ve solved the case, that’s it. It’s not like Clue where you’ll get a different result every time. So choose wisely how, when or who you want to play with. Then, maybe pass it on to another friend or family member as interested in solving crimes as you.
