Whitney Houston Biopic Will 'Answer All the Questions' About Late Singer

The long-awaited film, 'Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody,' is now playing in select theaters.

The new biopic Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody is expected to do Whitney Houston justice, according to her close friend and former music executive, Clive Davis. 

Davis, 90—a producer behind the new film—recently talked about what will be covered in the movies, revealing that most of the audience's burning questions about her life, and sudden death in 2012, will be answered in the film. 

"Knowing all the questions people wanted to know about Whitney, I decided it's only right to do a film and answer all the questions, whether it's about her sexuality, her marriage, her dependence on drugs at a certain part of her career, how she and I worked together," Davis told People in a new interview published on Thursday, Dec. 22. 

The film will also focus "big time" on Houston's iconic music, said Davis, who collaborated with the vocalist on some of her biggest hits. "How do you celebrate the music? All those great copyrights. We clearly decided it would have to be Whitney's voice," he added. 

Davis—portrayed in the film by Stanley Tucci—also talked about the decision to cast Naomi Ackie in the lead role. He said he was completely blown away by her ability to embody the "I Have Nothing" songstress. 

"Naomi's audition tape was truly spectacular," he said. "It was all the research she had put into it...Within a few minutes you do feel she's Whitney. She even delivers in that manner in the film." 

The film is projected to follow the story of Whitney's entire life, including her road to fame, her drug addiction, her marriage with Bobby Brown and her romance with her best friend, Robyn Crawford.
