If 'White Lotus' Went to Greece, the Cast Would Wear This Altuzarra Collection

It's giving mythical goddess.

On Tuesday night, Joseph Altuzarra presented a Fall 2023 collection imbued with the allure of Greek legends — all with the luxurious, subtly sensual practicality the designer is known for.

Hair side-swept and plastered down, some models emerged with saturated, tie-dye-like printed coats and fur-lined hoods. Other flaunted cloud-like puffer scarves looped over multi-layered outfits. A section of the show featured a series of floor-length skirts and dresses with Grecian draping details that feel elegant, yet almost casual.  And by the time the show ended, we couldn't ignore the fact that this collection would make the perfect wardrobe for a "White Lotus" season set in Greece (which probably won't be next season, but stick with us!).

At every Altuzarra show, you'll find a book on each seat, which the designer picks to gift attendees, and the books always hint something about the collection that follows. This season, it was Charlotte Higgins' Greek Myths: A New Retelling, which, as the title suggests, reframes the epic stories we know from the point of view of the female protagonists. Some garments looked fiery, perhaps as a nod to the fire Prometheus stole? Bags looked like a softer version of Pandora's box. Some fabrics were beautifully dyed, pleated and twisted into ethereal forms, only to be followed by leather wrapped tightly around the shoulders. Statement knit hats gave the appearance of a curly- (or snake-?) haired Greek statue.

In the show notes, the designer writes that Fall 2023 "takes us on an odyssey through a mythological landscape," the collection straddling the "supernatural and human," the "magic and real."

As always, prints are a big focus, this time moving from abstract, inky designs reminiscent of Rorschach tests into Shibori tie-dyes before finishing with a series of "vegetal and botanical prints, inspired by scavenged flowers and leaves that were used for symbolic divination," per the show notes.

And here's why this makes it perfect for "The White Lotus," which is as much a fashion show as it is a thriller, and our imaginary season set in Greece: Each character has their own style, from Tanya McQuoid (R.I.P.) (Jennifer Coolidge) and her hyper-femininity to Portia's (Haley Lu Richardson) kooky Gen-Z aesthetic. Altuzarra's Fall 2023 collection has a range of individualistic looks to fit different characters, all with a Greek undercurrent. The puffer or pillowy scarves would fit a character like Portia; a cozy-looking knit dress would be perfect for Harper (Aubrey Plaza), while a hooded gown with olive wreath details would serve Tanya best.

Whether they're part of the next "White Lotus" cast or simply a real-life wealthy jet-setter, they won't be able to do much better than Altuzarra for that signature air of worldly, luxurious-yet-wearable eclecticism.
