Last year gave us a number of buzzworthy, meme-able shows. And one of the series that got people really talking was HBO Max’s original limited series The White Lotus. The six-episode satirical comedy-drama is a social commentary on white privilege, and what better setting for that than a tropical resort?

It follows the guests—and employees—of the White Lotus resort as they deal with messy relationships during what is supposed to be a luxurious and relaxing island getaway. The first season was so well received that it earned 20 Emmy nominations, including for, like, nearly every member of the cast, and it won 10 of them! Given that, it’s no surprise that The White Lotus season 2 is about to bless our screens this Sunday, October 30.

Here’s everything we know about The White Lotus season 2 so far.

The show’s original creator is still involved, TG

HBO officially renewed The White Lotus, and the show’s creator, Mike White, is also involved. Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming, said in a statement, “Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town. We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”

Color me intrigued!

And we have multiple (!!) trailers with a peek at Jennifer Coolidge

This season is set in Italy, and HBO dropped the first trailer August featuring EMMY AWARD WINNER Jennifer Coolidge, who plays a truly iconic character on the show.

The streamer also dropped a full-on trailer with *the* best footage of the mostly new cast. It also seems likely that there’s yet another mystery death looming in the horizon given the body bag snippet. 👀 Me 🤝🏻 context clues, lol.

Speaking of the cast…basically only Jennifer is a returning member

Okay, so season 2 is basically going to be its own thing. This is setting The White Lotus up to be an anthology series like American Horror Story, where we’ve got a whole new set of characters and a different setting but similar themes.

The second season will feature new guests and staff plus a different resort location. And the cast is a really solid lineup that includes stars Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Imperioli, Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, Leo Woodall, Meghann Fahy, and Will Sharpe.

Aubrey plays Harper Spiller, a woman on vacation with her husband, played by Will. And they’re vacationing with their friends, husband and wife Cameron and Daphne Babcock, played by Theo and Meghann. Haley is going to be Portia, a young woman traveling with her boss. Murray will be Bert Di Grasso, an elderly man traveling with his son Dominic (Michael) and grandson Albie (Adam). And Tom will be an English expat named Quentin.

And thankfully, the show is bringing back Jennifer Coolidge, who will reprise her role as Tanya McQuoid, the weepy, wealthy woman who was mourning the loss of her mother.

Season 2 is set in Italy

For this season, we’ll be taking a trip to gorgeous gorgeous Italy. Variety reported back in January that the show would be filming specifically in Sicily, and the fictional Italian White Lotus resort will be set in the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace. Last season, the Hawaii location was actually also shot at the Four Seasons Resort Maui.

And it deals with “sexual politics”

As you know if you watched season 1, the ideas of class, race, and privilege all factored heavily into the storyline. Colonialism was a major theme of the show. For season 2, the focus is going to be a little different.

“I didn’t know that I had the gumption to wade into those waters again, knowing I was going to get sniper fire from every direction,” White said in an interview with Vulture. “Maybe the classic sexual politics, the naughty subversive stuff we’re getting into, will take the edge off a little bit from that.”

For season 2, there’s going to be a lot of gender-role stuff, especially between Meghann’s and Aubrey’s characters. Cannot wait to watch it all play out! If you just can’t wait though, go ahead and give season 1 a rewatch as you count down the minutes until new season 2 episodes hit:
