Whistler Shines Light On Essential Behind-The-Scenes Employee

The in-bounds skiing experience doesn't run on lift infrastructure alone -- it's also maintained by the countless behind-the-scenes employees tasked with keeping resort operations, from ticketing to restaurants, operating smoothly.

Christina Brown, the general manager of Blackcomb, British Columbia's Christine's restaurant, is one of those unsung heroes. Learn her story by watching the video below.

I love stories like these. The lifties, patrollers, food service workers, etc... deserve all the praise in the world. Without them, skiing wouldn't be the same.

Christine's, located on the Blackcomb side of Whistler Blackcomb inside the Rendezvous Lodge, British Columbia, offers fine dining fare to skiers and summer sightseers.

While I skied at Whistler Blackcomb for a few years, I never had a chance to eat at Christine's because I was a college kid. And, much to no one's surprise, the phrases "college kid" and "fine dining" don't exactly pair like wine and cheese. We were too busy scrounging leftover french fries to think about dropping serious cash on lunch or dinner.

Maybe next time I'm at Whistler Blackcomb, I'll stop by Christine's and pretend I have my life together enough to enjoy a cabernet and scallops for lunch on the slopes.

Although the truth is, I'm probably still in the "french fries for lunch" phase of my life, and it's hard to say if I'll ever move out of that phase. Only time will tell.

Regardless, shoutout to folks like Christina Brown. Skiing rocks because of all the work you do.
