Whistler Giving Free Lift Tickets To Skiers Dressed As Santa

The race is on tomorrow.

This afternoon, Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia, announced that the first 100 skiers and snowboarders dressed as Santa or Mrs. Claus to arrive at the Whistler Village Gondola tomorrow, December 15th, will receive a free lift ticket.

In the announcement post, Whistler Blackcomb advised would-be Santas to reach the Whistler Village Gondola by 7:45 a.m. tomorrow, but something tells me that some enterprising skiers and boarders will probably arrive much, much earlier.

How could they not? Tickets at Whistler Blackcomb run $171 tomorrow, which is steep compared to the tantalizing price of free fifty.

And there's the bonus of getting to ski dressed as Santa or his better half. Thinking of a better way to ring in the holidays is difficult.

In direct contrast to the warmth and pleasantries of holiday cheer, I can't get the image of 100s of Santas battling through the Whistler Village to secure their place in line for the free ticket out of my head. I hope it's a more reserved affair, but the admittedly hilarious vision of a Santa free-for-all looms large.

That's the Grinch in me talking, though. Prospective Santas, if you're reading this, hit Whistler Blackcomb to reignite the Christmas spirit tomorrow. And remember, during the holidays, it's better to give than receive (free tickets to Whistler Blackcomb notwithstanding).
