Whistler Blackcomb Announces The End Of 2023 Summer Operations

Last week, August 24th, Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia, announced that it will cease 2023 summer operations on Labor Day as it pivots into the fall season.

More details below.

Here are the important dates to keep track of, per Whistler Blackcomb's Facebook update:

Sightseeing

"Sightseeing is available via Blackcomb Gondola until September 24th.

Peak Express will close for sightseeing on September 5th.

PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is open daily until September 10th. After this, it will run weekends only until September 24th."

Bike Park

"Whistler Village Gondola will close on September 5th for maintenance ahead of the winter 23.24 season.

Creekside will be the main upload point for riders throughout fall Bike Park operations. Fitz Zone will remain open until closing day on October 9th, but riders will need to pedal to Creekside to re-upload. We're recommending riders who do want to lap this zone take the Valley Trail, as it's mostly downhill from the Village and takes between 10 and 20 minutes to pedal.

As is the case every year, we're also scaling back hours on a weekly basis now that we're losing daylight. Please visit the Bike Park Hours of Operations page on our website to review times ahead of your next visit.

Top of the World will close on September 5th."

Whistler Blackcomb also teased ongoing construction work associated with the to-be upgraded Fitzsimmons Express, which is transforming from a four-seater to an eight-seater.

The resort states that the upgraded lift, which departs from The Whistler Village, will "significantly reduce wait times and increase uphill capacity in winter and summer, providing even greater access to our bike park with five riders per chair."

Whistler Blackcomb anticipates opening the new chair during the 2023-2024 winter season.
