Where Y’at this Weekend? A Gala, AAPI-Culture, Ballet and More!

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Watch every Thursday morning as WhereYat.com and Where Y’at Magazine bring the top picks of great things to do in the beautiful city of New Orleans.

Congrats to all of the graduates. You should be proud of your hard work. Some of the ways to celebrate include a festival in the French Market, ballet with a touch of Broadway and a delicious graduation dinner. Here are Where Y’at’s weekend picks:

Some of this weekend’s events include:

  • First, for an evening honoring elegance and history, attend Thursday’s 40th annual La Soirée de L’alliance Française gala at the Cabildo. The event celebrates the founding of the alliance’s New Orleans chapter with a night of music, silent auctions, and an array of French cuisine and wines.

  • Speaking of French, the French Market hosts the free Asian-Pacific American Heritage Festival on Saturday. The festival will feature kung fu demonstrations, cultural performances, and more. Enjoy delicious food from Pho Orchid, Thai Nola and other popular Asian-Pacific restaurants.

  • Next, experience the magic of Broadway at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center at JPAS’ “The Ballet Goes to Broadway.” With shows on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, the program pays tribute to the greatest musical dances of Broadway from shows such as “Oklahoma!” and “West Side Story.”

  • Finally, celebrate your graduate at Neyow’s XL, a high-end Creole steakhouse in Mid-City renowned for its vibrant decor filled with unique New Orleans artwork. Perfect for a festive graduation celebration, the restaurant offers steak, seafood, and Creole favorites…and is also open for Sunday brunch.
