The countdown is on for the release of Leonardo DiCaprio's next highly anticipated next movie Killers of the Flower Moon. Directed by Martin Scorsese and also starring Lily Gladstone, the film is based on the book of the same name about the Osage murders in 1920s Oklahoma.

What is Killers of the Flower Moon about?

Based on the non-fiction book of the same name by David Grann, Killers of the Flowers Moon tells the true story of the Osage murders in 1920s Oklahoma. Told through the romance of Ernest Buckhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), Killers of the Flower Moon is a western crime saga that explores what happened when white interlopers discovered oil was present in Native American tribal land. What follows is a story of betrayal, love and murder.

Who stars in Killers of the Flower Moon?

Starring as the lead role in Killers of Flowers Moon is Leonardo DiCaprio as Ernest Buckhart, a white man who is married to a Native American woman named Mollie Kyle, who is played by Lilly Gladstone.

Also joining the cast is Robert De Niro, who stars as Ernest's uncle William King Hale. Jesse Plemmons takes on the role of a BOI officer investigating the murders in Osage. Tantoo Cardinal is playing the role of Mollie's mother, Lizzie Q. John Lithgow is playing the role of the prosecutor and Brendan Fraser joins the cast as W. S. Hamilton, Hale's attorney.

How long is Killers of the Flower Moon?

Ok, so get prepared to have all the cinema snacks, as Killers of the Flower Moon is a whopping three hours and 26 minutes long.

Martin Scorsese, the film's director, has defended the film's length, explaining people will often sit and watch TV for hours at a time so why not with a film? And in fairness he does have a point.

He told the Hindustan Times: "People say it's three hours, but come on, you can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours. Also, there are many people who watch theatre for 3.5 hours. There are real actors on stage, you can't get up and walk around. You give it that respect, give cinema some respect."

Killers of the Flower Moon is currently set for a UK cinematic release date of 20th October, so we don't have long to wait before we can see the film on the big screen.

Killers of the Flower Moon was made in association with Apple Studios, and so after its cinematic release, the film will be heading to Apple TV+ for a streaming release. However, the official release date for the film on Apple TV+ has not been confirmed yet.
