Here’s where the viral ‘y’all better focus’ sound comes from: ‘I would’ve fell OUT in that room’
A councilman from Flint, Michigan, unintentionally has spawned a trending sound on TikTok.
The sound comes from a meeting run by Eric Mays in which he began to yell once the session began to be undisciplined. He suggested the meeting take a small break, which was then met with groans from the participants. After that, Mays said, ”Well, then y’all better focus,” and banged on the table three times.
The original audio was posted by @brownlikedusse to show what it’s like when she and her friends party.
Mays’ emphatic reaction is the highlight of this video, and users can barely contain their laughter while watching.
“I would’ve fell OUT in that room,” replied @smiledajaaaa.
TikTokers have put themselves in Mays’ shoes, telling the people in their life to get focused so that business can be done.
“POV: you and your friends [trying to] book an AirBnB,” wrote @xay1x._.
Getting a group of people to agree on an Airbnb is a hard and common task, as participants can be slow to move with a purpose in the booking process.
“Everybody want they own room but not [putting] in own room money,” replied @pacflly.
Trip planning isn’t the only source of frustration for TikTokers using this audio.
“Trying to take food orders from a 13-14 year old friend group,” wrote @shordietok.
People in the comments took their opportunity to expound upon why the young groups can be so tiring to serve.
“Everyone’s always tryna pay separately too like have y’all never heard of cash app? Venmo?? Zelle???” said @tayloxis.
People all over the app just want peace and order. Hopefully, banging on the table like Eric Mays will do the trick.
