The 2008 American romantic fantasy movie “Twilight” was an all-time hit. It was written by Melissa Rosenberg and directed by Catherine Hardwicke. The movie’s plot revolves around Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), who relocates to the little Washington town of Forks and meets Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). It’s here where their story begins.

The movie and the novel are both set in Forks, Washington. However, primary filming was done in and around Portland, Oregon.

Imagine walking through beautiful forests and exploring charming towns. These are the real places where Edward and Bella’s love story came to life on the big screen.

Where Was the ‘Twilight’ Prologue Scene Filmed?

In the introductory scene, an unknown person attacks a deer grazing in the forest. This scene was filmed 26 miles east of Salem in Oregon. This place is Silver Falls State Park. The scene where Edward Cullen and Bella Swan were first seen in the treetops was also filmed at the same state park.

Forks Bridge

At the movie’s start, Bella and her father, Charlie Swan, are first seen entering the town of Forks while driving across a dramatic, lengthy bridge. Even though it’s far from Forks, you can drive across the same bridge. The Forks Bridge in the movie is named the Bridge of Gods, and it spans the border between Washington and Oregon while crossing the Columbia River.

Forks Police Station

Given that two of Vernonia, Oregon’s major crossroads were used in the setting shots for Forks Police Station, the city has a better claim to being the official “Twilight” town. Moreover, Chief Swan’s police station was originally the local Wauna Federal Credit Union.

Forks High School

In addition to the classic school parking lot episode where Edward saves Bella’s life, the outside of the Spartans’ house was also filmed in Kalama High School in Kalama, Washington.

The graduation scene in the school gym for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” was filmed at Como Lake Middle School and David Thompson Secondary School for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

Carver Cafe

The Carver Cafe is one of the most popular settings for “Twilight” filming. It is a small town with over a thousand residents. Bella and Edward’s conversation on the porch following their first date was filmed in the cafe. The café owner decided to keep the set’s table and chairs after the movie’s shooting.

The ViewPoint Inn

This site served as the setting for prom scenes. The View Point Inn is about 35 kilometers from Portland, Oregon’s city center. In the “Twilight” movie, many shots where Bella and Edward are viewing the sunset were also filmed at the inn.

The Oregon City Mill

The Oregon City Mill, which is 15 miles outside of Portland, Oregon, served as the location for the mill scenes in “Twilight.” The mill is an old building that provides incredible views of the surroundings. In the movie, James Coven attacked and killed a person here.

Indian Beach (aka La Push)

Cannon Beach, Oregon, is home to Indian Beach. High school students frequently go surfing there in the movie. Jacob revealed to Bella that the Quileute tales were true at the beach. If you want to explore more about where was “Twilight” filmed, be sure to pay a visit to Indian Beach.

Kalama High School and Madison High School

The truck scene at school was the first time viewers saw Edward Cullen’s swoon-worthy supernatural strength and speed in this “Twilight” movie; it was undoubtedly the most memorable scene in the entire series.

Forks High School resembled the parking lots and cafeterias of Kalama High School in Kalama, Washington, and Madison High School in Portland, Oregon. When Edward saves Bella from the speeding car in the parking lot his display of superhuman abilities attracts Bella, and she is immediately intrigued by her mysterious savior.

The Swan House and the Cullen House

The white clapboard residence where Bella Swan lives is in the quiet Oregon town of St. Helens. The modern mansion where Edward lived with his vampire family in the movie is originally in Portland.

The Legacy of ‘Twilight’

“Twilight” began a fantastic saga that combined romance, teen angst, magical animals, and parental problems into a story about a 100-year-old vampire and a human and their devoted love for one another.

If you loved the local vampires and werewolves in the series, the “Twilight” tour might be a fun experience for the film’s young and old fans.
