Where to play Beat Saber, the cube rhythm game going viral on TikTok

A viral TikTok video starring a gamer playing Beat Saber to a trending hip-hop song has people wondering where they can play the game — and how.

TikToker Logan Theobold uploaded a video of themselves rocking out a Beat Saber session to “North Memphis” by Pharmacist. In the video, Logan effortlessly nails each note with their right controller before breaking out akimbo and shredding through a constant deluge of chords.

“Anyone else here from anyone rapping?” one user asked, echoing several other commenters who also found Logan’s video through a rap duet.

“Only people who play this game know how hard this is,” another user said, pointing out Logan’s remarkable skill in Beat Saber.

“Can someone tell me what I need to do this?” yet another commenter asked. “I wanna get this.”

To answer that commenter’s question, Beat Saber is a rhythm game from developer Beat Games. In Beat Saber, players are tested on their ability to — you guessed it — stay on beat. You can play a variety of original songs produced by Beat Games but the game also offers DLC with tracks from artists such as BTS and Panic! at the Disco.

It’s also a virtual reality game, meaning you’ll need to get VR setup in order to play. The good news is that Beat Saber is compatible with most VR headsets such as the Oculus Quest 2, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and more.

The bad news is that VR technology is expensive. Granted, it’s certainly more accessible than it was 10 years ago. The Oculus Quest 2 is probably the best choice overall but it’ll run you $300. And if you’re willing to throw down some big bucks, the Valve Index starts at $499 but costs $999 for all the peripherals.

Another concern you want to keep in mind is health precautions. If you have epileptic triggers or have issues with motion sickness, VR games (especially Beat Saber) might be unwieldy or even straight up debilitating for you. Please be sure to exercise caution.

But if you’re interested in VR games, then Beat Saber is certainly a nice introduction to them. Beat Saber can be played on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC or Oculus Quest (which can play the game without a console or PC).

Happy vibing!
