Where to Order Thanksgiving Dinner and Catering in NYC

What’s that? You don’t want to make an elaborate, 12-dish meal in your closet-sized kitchen? Shocking. Leave the cooking to these restaurants, bakeries and markets instead, so you can focus on what’s important. (Stuffing your face with pie and passing out at 8 p.m.) Here, our list of the best places to order Thanksgiving dinner and catering in NYC this holiday.

The Best Places to Get a Pie in NYC

1. Bklyn Larder

Bklyn Larder

The neighborhood provisions shop is pulling out all the stops with a full spread, including a boneless, brined turkey “roll” with sausage stuffing, sides like corn pudding, creamed kale and shredded brushes salad, and an assortment of classic holiday pies. (You’re probably going to want to pick up one of their cheese platters, too—just saying.)

228 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn; 718-783-1250 or bklynlarder.com. Order by Friday, November 11 for pick-up and local delivery.

2. Houseman

Jean Schwarzwalder

If you haven’t been, this Tribeca gem is absolutely worth a visit. But if you’d rather not wear your Thanksgiving pants in public (fair), you can still take advantage of turkey two ways (confit legs and sliced breast with gribenes salad) by getting it to go. As if that wasn’t classy enough, the sweet potato crostini and potato and celery root puree will really elevate your at-home affair.

508 Greenwich St.; 212-641-0654 or housemanrestaurant.com. Order by Friday, November 18 for pick-up or delivery (lower Manhattan only) on Wednesday, November 23.

3. Four & Twenty Blackbirds

Donny Tsang

Unsurprisingly, this cult-fave sister-owned pie shop has mastered the art of Thanksgiving dessert, with salted-caramel apple, brown-butter pumpkin, and our favorite, the signature salty honey pie. (Psst…there’s also bittersweet chocolate pecan on the Thanksgiving menu this year, and we’d be willing to bet that it’s both decadent and delicious.)

Multiple locations in Brooklyn; birdsblack.com. No deadline, but the limited inventory is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so order early for best selection.

4. Il Buco Alimentari

Giada Paoloni

While the beloved institution Il Buco hosts a dine-in Thanksgiving, its casual market counterpart brings those Italian-cooking sensibilities to a takeout feast, featuring crispy butterball potatoes and sourdough stuffing with homemade sausage. And let’s not forget about dessert—pumpkin tart and apple crostata are on the menu. At $500 for ten to 14 people, it’s not exactly cheap but not a bad deal either.

53 Great Jones St.; 212-837-2622 or ilbuco.com. Order by Friday, November 18.

5. Runner & Stone

Runner & Stone

OK, maybe you’re ambitious enough to tackle the turkey yourself, but your tiny oven can only handle so much. Leave the baked goods to Runner & Stone, whether it’s a loaf of cranberry-pecan levain (perfect for cheese platters and next-day sandwiches alike), a pumpkin tart with maple meringue or one of the bakery’s swoon-worthy stuffing mixes.

285 Third Ave., Brooklyn; 718-576-3360 or runnerandstone.com. Order by noon on Tuesday, November 22.

6. Pig Beach

Jessica Hirsch

Brown sugar and maple glazed spiral cut ham or a whole smoked heritage turkey from a barbecue master? Don’t mind if we do. And while we’re at it, we’ll take a side of pineapple jalapeño coleslaw and a slice of key lime pie, too.

480 Union St., Brooklyn; pig beach nyc. Order by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 18 for pick-up on Wednesday, November 23.

7. Aquavit

Order a heat-and-eat Thanksgiving kit from Michelin star restaurant Aquavit and you’ll be treated to a decidedly upscale spread that boasts fennel and caraway spiced turkey breast, smoked turkey leg sausage, rye and brioche stuffing, truffled mushroom spätzle and more. This fine-dining gem has also got dessert covered with options that include classic pumpkin pie, milk bread and chocolate trifle. Just be prepared to pay a pretty penny for the gourmet fare and perhaps opt for a more intimate celebration, since a holiday feast for four will set you back $575.

66 East 55th Street; 212-307-7311 or aquavit.org. Order by Wednesday, November 16.

8. Carmine’s

Carmine’s

This family-style Italian restaurant is dishing up a traditional Thanksgiving feast, consisting of an 18-pound turkey and five classic sides (brussels sprouts with applewood smoked bacon, sauteed green beans with peppers and hazelnuts, baby carrots with fresh dill, sweet potato casserole and mashed potatoes with gravy). And those who haven’t achieved star baker status in time for the holidays, will be relieved to know that pies are available, too, albeit for an additional fee.

This gift set features a maple pecan tart, a 12-piece chocolate assortment, dark chocolate salted caramel truffles, 12 cheesecake macarons and assorted caramels. In other words, this should be enough to last you the entire weekend.
