It’s been hard to scroll through TikTok lately without seeing images of Vince McMahon crying during an interview. That’s all thanks to a new trend where social media users are taking a clip of the WWE co-founder and former CEO getting emotional and turning it into reaction memes.

While the meme might be new, the original clip of McMahon is a few years old.

It comes from the 2020 documentary, Undertaker: The Last Ride, in which McMahon started to tear up after being asked what the wrestler Mark William Calaway — known professionally as “The Undertaker” — meant to both him and the WWE.

At the time, McMahon became so overwhelmed with emotion by the question that he was unable to speak for several moments and even made a gesture to the camera to cut the tape.

The clip has been paired with melancholy music and featured in countless TikToks, Instagram reels and Twitter posts now that it has surfaced — many of them expressing nostalgia for certain video games.

Dad what was gaming with the boys during covid like?” reads the video text of a TikTok shared by @elitegamingcuts.

The video — which now has over 19.7 million views — has caused people to wax poetic about their pandemic-era gaming memories.

“No job, no school, no nothing,” wrote @jiggzzz_yt. “Just freedom man.”

“words can’t describe those times,” said @coltonswick.

“Covid gaming was beautiful,” @elitegamingcuts added in their post caption.

Some memes also look back fondly on various game launches, such as the many iterations of Call of Duty.

The nostalgia factor was also for old fast-food favorites.

Some memes, like one shared by the work humor account @minute, reflect on past relationships.

Most of these posts are tongue-in-cheek and generally lighthearted, but some take a more serious note about going through tough times.

“Every time I start to get better something else has to come and ruin it,” reads one viral TikTok shared by @pain.cuhh.

Things have even gone meta, with some users creating memes about the meme trend.

“Dad tell me about the day your entire Twitter timeline was the Vince McMahon meme,” reads a post by @RyanChillin on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

This is far from the only time McMahon has become a meme. In his long-running career, the former WWE CEO has found himself at the center of other viral trends before — including several shots of him looking shocked during a WWE event, which has become countless reaction memes and GIF templates.
