Where to celebrate Passover in DC, Maryland, Virginia

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Millions of Jewish people began celebrating Passover after sundown on Monday.

Passover is one of the major Jewish holidays, celebrated over the course of seven or eight days and commemorating the exodus of ancient Israelites from slavery in Egypt, as outlined in the Hebrew Bible.

In the U.S., families and friends celebrate Passover for eight days.

Many organizations in D.C., Maryland and Virginia are hosting events to celebrate.

Celebrate Passover with Jews of Color and their Families

If you’re looking for a non-traditional seder in the District, you can join Jews of Color and their families to celebrate. The event includes a chocolate and toffee matzah bar, singing and Passover-themed crafts. Dinner will also be served.

When: April 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Passover Community Seder – 2024

Beth Chai is hosting a community seder at River Road Unitarian Universalist Church in Bethesda. Families are asked to sign up for a main dish, side dish, dessert, matzah ball soup or charoset to share as part of the potluck. Click here to sign up.
