So you want an elegant, elevated decorating scheme this year - but where to buy Christmas decorations if you've got a more sophisticated scheme. Shimmering string lights, flocked faux trees, colorful ornaments, and welcoming wreaths ... we here at Livingetc simply can't wait for the season to begin in earnest, especially given our penchant for elevated and luxe holiday decor.

And if you are one of the many who share that attraction, well, we have some excellent news —to help with your valiant search, we've rounded up 6 of our favorite retailers for upscale Christmas decorations, including Anthropologie. Check out the full list below.

6 places to buy elevated Christmas decor

Anthropologie

Why we love it: In every which way, there is no accessible homes brand doing it quite like Anthropologie. And their holiday section is consistently top-notch. Every piece is whimsical yet traditional, colorful without going over-the-top. The pieces can, at times, cost a pretty penny, but they are certainly built to last. Deck your halls with Anthro decor and you'll be the envy of every holiday party guest for years to come.

H&M Home

Why we love it: Design is never an afterthought at H&M Home, the poster child for inexpensive yet trendy and gorgeous holiday decor. The team there has its pulse on what's trending in the design world, so you can stay up-to-date without breaking the bank. We particularly love buying taper candles here — the retailer offers not only funky designs, but also affordable ones, at that.

Target

Why we love it: Target has something for everyone — which means it also carries excellent items for the design-minded. On the Christmas front, it's clear a lot of thought goes into its holiday pieces, which are consistently accessible, stylish, and oh-so affordable. To narrow down your pool of options, we'd recommend shopping its "Wondershop" collection, or grabbing something from the brand "Threshold," its in-house collaboration with designer Shea McGee.

CB2

Why we love it: In everything it does, CB2 is the picture of traditional luxury design ... and that ethos certainly extends to its holiday decor. Its pieces are so classic — elevated takes on the Christmas staples we know and love. We're particularly loving this champagne-colored faux tree this year.

Wayfair

Why we love it: There is an almost overwhelming amount of product available at Wayfair, meaning you often have to dig to find the very best gems. But when you do, it's always worth it. Lower prices, unique designs, and plenty of customer reviews ... if you don't believe us, take a look at this edit of the best furniture and decor pieces on Wayfair right now.

Lulu and Georgia

Why we love it: Lulu and Georgia is like CB2's smaller, slightly more modern cousin. Clean lines, muted tones, and classic, high-brow takes are all the rage here. Just scrolling through their collection can make you feel as though you're peeking into a luxury ski chalet, one that's been decorated by the It designer of the moment. Just look at these marbled ornaments!

Where is the best place to buy simple Christmas decor?

This year, we'd have to recommend H&M Home as the best place to buy affordable, simple Christmas pieces with a luxurious spin. Its collection is wonderfully sized, so you're not scrolling through thousands of SKUs trying to determine what's worth it and what isn't, and, much like its clothes, the pieces are high-quality yet no fuss.'Our main focus was on reimagining the magic of the season with classic reds and greens,' one H&M designer told us. 'The holidays provide a wonderful opportunity to get creative with your interior décor and infuse a touch of magic into our living spaces.'

Satin thread ornament

Price: $5.99

We'd describe this satin-ornament as classy and simple. The varying shades of green and the vertical stripes exude elegance.

Glass candlestick holder

Price: $20.99

Varied and different, but clean — two of these black candlestick holders would steal the show on a dinner table.

Paper Tree Christmas Decoration

Price: $20.99

Easily storeable and forever adorable, these paper tree Christmas decorations are a fabulous way to work a bit of dark green (darker than your actual tree) into your celebration. H&M offers different sizes and colors, as well, so you can create a mini forest for your mantle or dining table.

Where is the best place to buy affordable Christmas decor?

While many pieces in its massive holiday collection are quite stylish and on-trend, I find Target is best known for its unbeatable prices. 25pc ornament sets for $10, faux trees for $55 ... if you're (snow)balling on a budget this season, Target is undoubtedly the place for you. Otherwise, I'd recommend checking out Wayfair. As I mentioned, you might have to dig a bit to find what you like, but there's no doubt in my mind that the gems are there. And hey, isn't the journey part of the fun anyway?

Gold glittered wreath

Price: $30

How luxurious is this glittery gold bamboo wreath? It's great for every day display, but would also add a nice elevated touch during a party if you'd rather a traditional red and green piece otherwise.

Lighted Faux Pine Garland

Price: $54.99

This pre-lit garland features some of those little holiday touches we know and love: snow-covered branches, gold berries, and pomegranates.

25oz ribbed mercury glass candle

Price: $25

The smell of the holiday season is one of the most underrated parts of the whole shebang. Cinnamon from the eggnog on the stove, balsam fir emanating from the tree ... and of course, the aroma that accompanies an evening by the fire. Recreate that vibe instantly with this candle from Target.

Where is the best place to buy unique Christmas decor?

If you love the holidays but prefer to avoid traditional reds and greens, make yourself at home at Anthropologie, which has worked jewel tones, pinks, and purples into this year's collection. The vibe at Anthro is always lived-in luxury, cozy but upscale, and accessible individualist — i.e. this isn't your mother's holiday decor, unless, of course, your mother (bless her heart) has her thumb on the pulse of interior design. In which case, I'd encourage you to follow her lead.

Borosilicate glass tree

Price: $28

An iridescent green, this glass tree would add some great height to a mantle or a bookshelf.

Pre-lit colorful brush tree garland

Price: $58

Speaking of mantles, string this battery-powered pack of brush tree statuettes across your hearth for a bit of color and a little glow.

Cloudy bouclé throw blanket

Price: $82.60

Its stunning green color is the best part of this festive throw blanket, but the boucle is a close second.

Where is the best place to buy luxury Christmas decor?

For decor that leans traditional but stays, at all times, elegant, elevated, and luxury, we'd have to say CB2. It's modern without being stuffy; dependable but never boring. It's a bit less whimsical than Anthropologie, but nonetheless up on trends. "At CB2, we create our own traditions – and that’s especially true for our holiday assortment," CB2 President Ryan Turf told Livingetc of the brand's 2023 collection. "This season, we’re bringing sophistication in tabletop and decor to our customers’ homes while celebrating uniqueness and opulence." In doing so, the brand developed "rich color stories in unexpected materials like unlacquered brass, silk, and travertine that give a fresh but festive feel to your decor," Turf said. And for hosting and entertainment purposes, the team launched "new serveware and barware that pays homage to Art Deco silver services of the 1920s through ‘40s" while working with fashion designer Azeeza to put a "jewel-toned spin" on the fan-favorite Marie Coupe and Marta Cooler glassware. Cheers!

Marie Green Coupe Cocktail Glass

Price: $16.95

Life would be better if we sipped all our beverages from coupes, especially this classic from CB2, redesigned in collaboration with Chicago-based fashion designer Azeeza. The green and plum gradient surprises but excites in its festiveness.

Ivory silk Christmas tree skirt

Price: $135.20

Wrap your tree in a skirt of luscious silk fit for only the finest of firs. An instant living room upgrade (that will hopefully catch some of those fallen branch needles, as well).

Marta Ombre Plum Double Old-Fashioned Glass

Price: $5.95

Also redesigned in collaboration with Azeeza, this best-selling Marta glass features an ombre plum and amber gradient that thrills. Would love to have a cocktail from this.

Burst gold star tree topper

Price: $19.95

If stars atop your tree aren't your thing, this starburst topper might be the perfect alternative.

Green sheepskin fur throw pillow

Price: $64.71

Funky, warm, and modern, this Mongolian green pillow would be so lovely to lean against.

6pc luster white ornament set

Price: $19.96

These six glass orbs are a mismatch made in heaven. Comprising different textures and slightly different hues of the same color — an iridescent white, a matte white, and a transparent glass — they'd look so lovely scattered all around your fir.
