Where Is the Big Brother Season 25 House Located?

The Big Brother house was actually built on a sound stage at Radford Studio Center (formerly known as CBS Studio Center) located in Los Angeles’s Studio City neighborhood. According to The Sun, the sets were specifically built on the 14,000-square-foot Sound Stage 18. With the need for such a controlled environment, it makes sense the show is filmed on a sound stage seeing as the secure location effectively cuts off houseguests from the outside world.

Since 2000, Big Brother—hosted by Julia Chen Moonves—has pushed the boundaries of reality TV as it follows a group of people who live in the house and are constantly watched. As they participate in challenges and vote someone out of the house each week, the last remaining guest secures the $750,000 grand prize. The sets are outfitted with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones that record the residents 24/7 to produce new episodes and maintain live streams. According to Screen Rant, the sets don’t take up the entire sound stage. Just beyond them, there’s ample room for behind-the-scenes work done by the crew—including restocking the pantry, building competition sets in the backyard, and operating cameras.

Radford Studio Center itself has played quite a prominent role in the entertainment industry's history. It was originally brought to life in 1928 by Mack Sennett—a silent film actor, director, and producer—who transformed a lettuce ranch into a then state-of-the-art motion picture facility. Known as Mack Sennett Studios, the production studio helped pioneer the Studio City community. Since then, many iconic movies and TV shows have been filmed at the center including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Seinfeld, That 70’s Show, Will & Grace, and Gilligan’s Island.
