Wheel of Fortune fans are outraged after a small detail caused one player to lose out big.

On Tuesday, Wheel of Fortune contestant Charlene Rubush missed out on winning a car due to what viewers considered to be a minor technicality. It began when Charlene entered the bonus round after winning $16,500. During the “What Are You Doing?” category, Charlene’s initial guess was “choosing the right card.” Quickly, Charlene paused and realized the one-word difference and changed her guess to “choosing the right word.” Though this was correct, the length of time it took Charlene to change answers resulted in her losing the category and bonus prize.

Once the buzzer went off, host Pat Sajak said: "You know, this one's tough, because you said all the right words, including the word 'word.' But as you know, it's gotta be more or less continuous. We'll allow for a little pause but not four or five seconds. I'm sorry. You did a good job in getting it, but we can't give you the prize, and it was the Audi."

Sadly, Charlene missed the opportunity to win a brand new Audi due to her pause being a total of five seconds. Viewers were disappointed by the loss and some even threatened to boycott the show. One viewer tweeted in part: "Wheel of Fortune, you just lost a viewer. 'I am choosing the right word' to never watch this show again ... I'm done! I'm with that lady. She deserves that Audi!" Another fan tweeted: "Ohh that needs to be reviewed, @WheelofFortune! She paused but not for THAT long. It was obvious she was finishing the process of solving the puzzle. I think we need to add a challenge flag to #WheelofFortune."

This isn't the first time Wheel of Fortune fans have been annoyed with the rules of the show. Back in November, contestant Sharon Bowers was penalized for using the word "and" while trying to complete a puzzle – a common mistake that has cost a lot of players over the years.

Thankfully for Charlene, it wasn't a total loss. Despite losing the bonus round and the Audi, she still was able to take home the $16,500 cash prize and a free vacation.
