Wheel of Fortune recently announced Ryan Seacrest as its new host after longtime helm Pat Sajak's planned departure, and fans of the game show have some serious thoughts on the replacement choice.

In a social media announcement where the official Instagram account of the broadcast welcomed Seacrest with a post on June 27, viewers took to the comments expressing a variety of emotions to the news.

"It’s official! Starting in 2024 @ryanseacrest will take the stage as the new host of Wheel of Fortune. We're so excited - Welcome Ryan!" the caption of the upload simply read.

From the looks of internet users' reactions, there was a wave of disappointment that couldn't be contained, as several dropped in with their unfiltered opinions.

"Meh. Not a big fan of him and have been watching wheel of fortune for 30 years. Guess all good things come to an end 😏," one wrote, while another agreed, "Watched this show for 40 years now I can’t 😂."

A third added, "Oh we love Ryan but dang not wheel too… we needed someone new here it’s not that type of vibe on wheel!" as a fourth also campaigned for a fresh face, suggesting, "Can we get someone new??"

Several more felt he was "not the right fit" for the gig, while yet another's opinion conveyed that it was a "lazy choice."

Others acknowledged that "no one can replace pat," as one suggested, "Gonna miss Pat, but Ryan is a great pick."

Another fan had a different idea in mind, stating, "I would much rather see Vanna as host and Maggie replace Vanna as letter turner."

Overall, it seemed that many fans were displeased, mainly calling for some newfound talent on the show.

It should, however, be acknowledged that for a position so esteemed where there are such big shoes to fill, the candidate needs to be seasoned with adequate on-air experience, making the former Live With Kelly and Ryan and current American Idol host well-appointed for the role, a natural progression of sorts.

As Parade previously reported, Sajak officially announced he'd be moving on from WOF earlier this month, writing in a Twitter statement, "Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)" on June 12.
