Fire Country's Season 1 finale left us with a number of, uh, burning questions. But the one we're going to extinguish here involves the show's best couple—not up for debate!—Sharon and Vince. Now that their son, Bode, has been denied parole, how are the two going to deal?

"If I had to guess I’d say they’ll find a way to weather that and every other s--tstorm that arises with the same refusal to give up they always have," Billy Burke, who plays Vince, tells Parade. "I’ve always considered that undying commitment to family, community and each other to be the heartbeat of the show."

Diane Farr, whose character feels betrayed and hurt by her son by the end of Season 1, says that Sharon and Vince's relationship is one of the most realistic—and moving—of the series. "We never get to see marriage on television the way it really is," she tells Parade. "Billy Burke and I are almost the same age, and you never see actors that are the same age playing the parts that they should be playing. Every love interest I've had my whole career is always 25 years older than me."

"I went into this show loving the relationship between [Sharon] and her child," she adds. "I came out of the show most impressed by the relationship between the husband and wife."

Will Sharon get a new kidney in Fire Country?

Earlier in the season, Vince's younger brother, Luke, admits to having feelings for Sharon and even hits on her in episode 11, which makes the brothers' already difficult relationship nearly impossible.

At the same time, Sharon struggles with kidney disease throughout Season 1, and the community in Edgewater goes so far as to test nearly everyone to find a replacement match for her. After Sharon insists she won't take a kidney from Bode, who turns out to be a viable donor, she's left struggling and waiting.

All that changes in the finale, after it's revealed that Luke—of all people!—is a match for Sharon. While Sharon insists in the show that she doesn't want a kidney "with strings attached," Burke hints in real life that he believes the transplant will indeed cause problems.

"Sharon’s new kidney donor looking like it’s gonna be Luke?" he says. "Lots to speculate on how it might all come through the wash."
