We've found 12 fab dupes for Dua Lipa's Y2K butterfly top
From the runways to the pavements, Y2K style is everywhere right now. And from queen of all things 00's Bella Hadid, to Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo, it seems everyone is embracing one nostalgic throwback in particular: the butterfly top.
When researching this trend, we delved deep into the archives of the late ‘90s and early 2000s. The era is all about low-rise jeans, belly chains and cargo pants, but there are a few notable fashion moments that really defined the time. Who could forget Naomi Campbell’s iconic butterfly-inspired Versace dress of 1999, or Mariah Carey’s sparkly Emanuel Ungaro butterfly crop top and denim look?
Today, all our favourite celebs are winging it (sorry, not sorry) in butterfly-inspired bra tops, too. Most recently Vanessa Hudgens nailed the look at Coachella in a turquoise creation by Area. The top looked picture perfect for the event and, with the British festival season finally here, we predict butterfly tops are going to be fluttering all over your Instagram feeds this summer.
Dua Lipa was one of the earliest adopters of the butterfly-top revival, with her own Versace moment at the Grammys in 2021 and, more recently, helping to propel another Area showstopper into all our saved Insta images.
If you don't have a spare £1,000 to spend on the A-list's designer go-tos, don't worry, as you can easily source some great look-a-like butterfly tops on the good old high street, plus loads of our fave designer pieces are currently discounted in the summer sales, so you can flutter your wings with the best of ‘em.
