West Elm Announces Hotels Brand

Brooklyn-based home furnishings and housewares company West Elm announced it’s latest venture on Monday: hotels.

The first properties will open in Detroit, Michigan, and Savannah, Georgia, in late 2018, according to the company. Hotels are also planned for Minneapolis, Charlotte, and Indianapolis.

While each hotel will be in West Elm’s recognizable contemporary-meets-vintage mid-century modern aesthetic, the properties will “celebrate community” with works by local artists and regional design elements.

Each city will be represented through traditional handicrafts, thoughtful architecture, and custom furniture. On-site food and beverage programs also promise to stay true to the neighborhood.

“Each hotel [will] reflect the mood and identity of its host city,” said West Elm president Jim Brett, in a statement.

And each location will be completely shoppable, with furnishings and artworks from the guest rooms available for purchase online.
