Recent weeks have brought plenty of drama for Yellowstone fans, but not of the on-screen variety. In early February, Deadline reported that insiders were saying that the show would end after season five, with the Dutton family narrative to be picked up by a spin-off show starring Matthew McConaughey. Per the publication, the crux of the issue stemmed from scheduling disagreements with Yellowstone star Kevin Costner; Costner's lawyer subsequently released a statement calling the information about Costner's shooting demands "an absolute lie."

Now, Wes Bentley, who appears on the series as Jamie Dutton, the son of Costner's John Dutton, has spoken out about all of the speculation.

"The news that's come out recently about the show is, you know, it's above my pay grade," he told EW. "I know that they're still working on… working things out with everyone, to make sure we shoot. And I'm confident we will. We always have before. I think it's probably a bit of drama over nothing."

The sentiment seems to echo Paramount Network's stance. At the time of the Deadline report, the network told the publication, "We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of [show creator] Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner."

However, with no news forthcoming about an official renewal for the series, it's likely that fans will be on the edges of their seats a while longer.
