Gerry Turner

The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner is having a tough time keeping contestants.

Just a week after competitor Marina Perera left over a family issue, another woman also self-eliminated because she needed go home and “to be a mom.”

That’s what fans saw on Thursday night’s third episode, along with a talent show and a jealous feud between two ladies.

Gerry, 72, began with 12 women and wound up with nine by the end of the rose ceremony.

Read on to find out what happened in The Golden Bachelor Week 3.

What happened on The Golden Bachelor group date?

The ladies participated in a talent show with ex-Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe as one of the judges along with Gerry and host Jesse Palmer.

Among the acts were Susan, who did karate, Sandra, who performed stand-up comedy, and Leslie, who unleashed a risqué dance routine.

Worried Joan told cameras she didn’t have a talent, but read a disarming poem she’d written for Gerry that revealed how nervous she was.

Gerry loved it and chose Joan, 60, as the winner, which gave her a private dinner date with him.

How did Gerry and Joan’s one-on-one date go?

The blonde private school administrator confided in Gerry that it had been two and a half years since she lost her husband.

Both agreed that it was hard to start dating again after becoming widowed.

They strongly bonded over that and kissed. Gerry gave her a date rose.

Why did Joan quit The Golden Bachelor?

The next day, Joan, who had told Gerry her daughter had just had a baby in a difficult C-section birth, got a disturbing call from her.

Joan decided she needed to leave the show to support her daughter. She tearfully told Gerry the news, and both sobbed.

“I think that I need to go home and be a mom,” she said.

Gerry said he was disappointed because they'd connected but told Joan, “Sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest.”

They both said they’d miss each other. He sat on a bench and cried as she left in the van.

Who received Gerry's next one-on-one date?

Gerry chose Ellen for his second one-on-one date. As a surprise, fashion designer Michael Costello helped her pick out a bright pink gown..

“She’s really fun to be around…She’s never been pampered,” Gerry told cameras.

On the date, Ellen asked him to remember his wedding day with late wife Toni – but he couldn’t!

But Gerry did remember they didn’t have a honeymoon because they were broke in the beginning. As fans know, he later went on to become a successful restaurateur.

Gerry gave Ellen, 71, a pair of Neil Lane earrings as a gift and they enjoyed a hot air balloon ride. He gave her the date rose in midair and they "kissed at 100 feet."

What rivalry developed in the house?

While most of the ladies are super supportive of each other, a bit of a rivalry built up on tonight's Golden Bachelor.

Theresa bugged Kathy by talking about how amazing her one-on-one dinner date with Gerry had been the previous week. The petite brunette went into detail such as how she and the Golden Bachelor had even discussed traveling together.

Kathy complained to cameras that by her conversation, Theresa implied Kathy didn’t have a chance with Gerry.

Edith sighed that Kathy was jealous.

April took Theresa aside to tell her to keep her mouth shut because Kathy was angry.

What did Kathy tell Gerry?

When emotional Kathy had time alone with Gerry, she told him she’d faced “meanness” in the mansion.

She told Gerry in a veiled dig at Theresa, “I don’t want you to make a mistake.”

Gerry gave a rose to Kathy and she cried.

The ladies cheered when Kathy returned with the rose, but Theresa took her aside.

How did Kathy and Theresa hash things out?

Kathy told Theresa, “I feel like you’re dismissing me” in the competition for Gerry’s heart.

Theresa insisted she didn’t think that at all but was “just trying to be open” about her relationship with him.

She walked away crying and Leslie comforted her.

Theresa told her that Kathy was saying she was boastful.

Gerry got wind of the dust up and approached Theresa.

She tearfully explained that everyone thought she was “boasting” and sympathetic Gerry told her, “I think you should let it go.”

Meanwhile, Kathy sniffed in confessional, “She is not Mrs. Turner yet!”

Who got roses on The Golden Bachelor Week 3?

Gerry awarded roses to Faith, Sandra, Leslie, Nancy, Susan, April and Theresa. He had earlier given Ellen and Kathy date roses, after Joan decided to leave.

That left him with nine ladies going into next week.

Theresa told cameras she shared things she shouldn’t have and was upset that she’d bothered Kathy.

But she shocked Kathy at the ceremony by talking to her about Gerry again, whispering about how he’d comforted her earlier.

In confessional, Kathy imitated Theresa’s “clueless” face but added, “I can’t figure out if she’s dumb as a rock or knows exactly what she’s doing.”
