Wendy's Customer Shares 'Caterpillar Salad' That They Got From The Chain On Reddit

On Reddit, many Wendy’s customers take to the site to create threads around their favorite menu items or to discuss and share their more negative experiences with the chain. Last week, Wendy’s fans on Reddit were horrified when one customer posted an image of a salad they received from an Ohio location that contained a live caterpillar.

With disbelief and amusement, fellow customers sent their condolences to the unlucky customer, expressing their shock and disgust at the “caterpillar salad.”

Wendy’s Salad Contains Live Caterpillar, Ohio Customer Finds

The creator of the post (@FearChub) wrote along with the pic on May 22nd, “Fiancé went to a Wendy’s less than 20 miles from the corporate headquarters in Dublin, OH and this is their quality control.” The post was titled, “caterpillar salad,” and the user added that the meal was “UNACCEPTABLE!”

Commenters then began sharing their thoughts, with one writing, “I am bout to vomit.” Another added, “ew,” as someone else guessed regarding the caterpillar, “must of slipped in.” Others had their own theories as to how the bug got into the salad with one commenting, “Caterpillars eat leafy greens. Their eggs can survive cold pretty well.”

The user continued, “Thing probably hatched while the lettuce or anything else was being transported, had a nice big meal for a few days. Hangs out in the salad box for a few days. Employee gets salad with tongs, tosses it in, doesn’t see it.”

Someone else added, “It’s gross but… vegetables grow in the ground… bugs live in the ground.” One other noted, “Wendys recently changed its lettuce. Have seen numerous caterpillars/ slugs in the new lettuce. I imagine regional managers will be enforcing checking lettuce in the next few months.”

While many users continue to share their “shock” at the idea of the caterpillar being not only in the salad but also alive, others are sharing their condolences and apologies to the original unlucky poster. It wasn’t indicated exactly which salad this one was from Wendy’s menu, but Redditors can see chicken, tomatoes and shredded cheese as toppings along with green romaine lettuce.
