Wendy's Brand-New Menu Item Comes in 4 Fan-Favorite Flavors

There’s a lot to love about Wendy’s. Out of all the fast-food chains, Wendy’s fries are our favorite (or at least out of a panel of 12), it's serving up free Frosty treats for the entirety of 2024, and the chain’s chicken nuggets are always one of our faves thanks to their delicious crispy exteriors. But whenever a chain introduces a new menu item, it gives us even more reason to love it—enter saucy nuggets.

Wendy’s New Saucy Chicken Nuggets

Instagram food account Snackolator recently posted that Wendy’s is testing a new chicken nugget item. The new nuggets are covered in sauce and given a good shake to fully coat them in the flavorful goodness. Customers have four different sauce choices: honey BBQ, Buffalo, ghost pepper, and garlic parmesan.

Some commenters drew comparisons to past Wendy’s items, saying, “They had something similar to this like over a decade ago and it was dope,” and many in particular drew comparisons to the short-lived but fondly remembered boneless wings that Wendy’s released in 2009. Comments on the Wendy's Reddit thread (where the first photos of the sauces appeared) drew the same comparisons.

The only issue with the new menu item? It’s apparently a limited-location test release, and you can only get them in Ohio. We reached out to a Wendy’s representative to confirm. The Wendy’s representative said, “The Saucy Nuggs are being tested at these select Ohio locations. Wendy’s culinary team is constantly testing new menu items inspired by our fans’ cravings, with Columbus as a perfect test market for early insights.”

While the representative said there are no current plans to expand the Saucy Nuggs nationwide, we’ll keep our fingers crossed—and enjoy free nuggets one more time before the end of 2023.
