  • Williams is still set to appear on season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show on September 20.

Wendy Williams is taking a step back to take care of her health. In a new Instagram post, the Wendy Williams Show host revealed that she’s pausing all public appearances for the time being while she undergoes evaluations for “ongoing health issues.”

"Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations," the statement read. "She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can't wait to be back in her purple chair Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere."

This isn't the first time the star has taken a break to focus on her health. Although Williams didn’t disclose the root of her current health issues, she’s previously opened up about other conditions she's been diagnosed with, like Graves’ disease and lymphedema. Williams has had to take multiple breaks from hosting her show over the past two years following her Graves’ disease diagnosis in 2019.

Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes an overactive thyroid, aka hyperthyroidism. It occurs when the immune system begins to attack the thyroid, resulting in excess thyroid hormone. In 2019, Williams announced on Twitter that she was taking an extended break from The Wendy Williams Show, and in May 2020, she took another hiatus following a battle with fatigue as a result of her illness.

Williams also took to Twitter to reveal her diagnosis of lymphedema in July 2019. While revealing some paparazzi shots of her swollen ankles, Williams said she had been diagnosed with lymphedema, or swelling that occurs when lymph, a fluid that contains germ-fighting white blood cells, builds up in the body’s soft tissues.

“Lymphedema, by the way, I’ve been diagnosed,” she said. “It’s not going to kill me, but I do have a machine—and how dare you talk about the swelling of it all.”

It’s been a journey for Williams' health, but the star is, fortunately, taking the time she needs to care for her wellbeing. Williams is set to be back in her purple chair for the premiere of season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show on September 20.

We can't wait to see what season 13 has in store, and hope Wendy gets well soon!
