A 'Welcome to Chippendales' Season 2 Is Still Up in the Air, but Here's What We've Heard About Renewal Potential

To my shock and surprise, Welcome to Chippendales is not a throwback Magic Mike. It's actually a true-crime series as well as a show about male strippers?? That's like two of my favorite things body-rolled into one. Three, if you count the '80s and '90s nostalgia vibes. The season starring Kumail Nanjiani is just getting started on Hulu. But will there be more? Here's what you need to know about Welcome to Chippendales season 2.
Stop teasing, is Welcome to Chippendales coming back?
Right now, there's no word on whether or not there will be a Welcome to Chippendales season 2. That said, it was announced as a miniseries. The show is, as you probably know, about Somen "Steve" Banerjee, the founder of Chippendales who only 10 years later pled guilty to accessory to murder and served time in prison. This story has a pretty clear beginning and end, so if we get to the end by the time season 1 is over, that might be it. It's entirely possible the show won't really need a season 2 to wrap its plot-lines. Sometimes a miniseries is just a miniseries!
If it does get a season 2, who would star in it?
A lot of the cast has big projects coming up and may not have time for more seasons of Welcome to Chippendales, in all honesty. Murray Bartlett is going to be in The Last of Us on HBO, Juliette Lewis can be seen in the new season of Yellowjackets in March, and Annaleigh Ashford is coming (back) to Broadway to star in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street opposite Josh Groban. No big deal! Nanjiani has not made any project announcements for the near future yet, which I guess does open up the *slight* possibility of more Chippendales, but he could also show back up in the MCU at the drop of a hat after 2021's Eternals. You never know with those guys.
When would Welcome to Chippendales return?
Streaming shows are loosey-goosey with scheduling. If the supporting cast is busy, it's possible that Welcome to Chippendales could get a season 2 with a release date later in 2023 or even 2024.

I can tell you where to find the writers and directors of Welcome to Chippendales next if you want more of the vibe! Show creator Robert Siegel doesn't have anything coming down the pike that we know about. But he also brought us Pam & Tommy, another true-crime series set at about the same time in recent history. Kinda feels like he should make it an unofficial trilogy with another series about another scandal/crime, don't you think? Siegel recently signed an overall deal with 20th Century Television, according to Deadline, so we're going to be getting more shows from him in the near future whether it's more Welcome to Chippendales or not.
Executive producer Matt Shakman, who also directed WandaVision, is set to direct the upcoming Fantastic Four movie for Marvel. So he's going to be busy. He also has an Amazon Prime Video series coming up called The Consultant. Jenni Konner, who used to be Lena Dunham's writing partner (remember Lenny Letter? That was her) is also a writer and producer on Single Drunk Female. If you're more into true-crime stories, Konner is also attached produce to The Bobby Love Story starring Octavia Spencer and produced by Kerry Washington.
