What is the weird clip of a dancing robot doll everyone is sharing on Twitter?

One of the scariest tropes in horror movies is creepy, murderous dolls. This Halloween, Chucky and Annabelle are getting a new friend, and her name is M3GAN.

The trailer for the new AI-doll horror film M3GAN dropped this week, and a bizarre dance sequence has already inspired a funny meme. M3GAN stars Allison Williams as a toy roboticist who becomes the guardian of her orphaned niece Cady. The spooky plot kicks off when the android doll Williams is working on, called M3GAN, comes to life and befriends Cady.

However, it’s not a gory scene or jump scare from the trailer that’s circulating online — it’s the dance sequence.

In the trailer, footage of M3GAN doing a strange TikTok-like dance with zero explanation is spliced into scenes of the doll trying to murder children. The creepy remix of Taylor Swift’s “It’s Nice to Have a Friend” definitely compounds the sinister vibe.

People online have now isolated the dance footage and turned it into a hilarious meme.

“Annabelle has 24 hours to respond to #M3GAN,” @cxrodge wrote on Twitter.

“Really makes you think,” @Pat_Merc said of a meme comparing young people’s interest in M3GAN to Annabelle.

“She’s clearing ANY lipsync assassin,” @lanajarae said, referencing RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“About halfway through the trailer for #M3GAN I thought there was nothing they could show me that would make me want to see it more — and then this happened. Instant icon,” @bravecarrot captioned a tweet.
