Weekly Astrology Forecast, May 29-June 4: What is Possible

This article originally appeared on Yoga Journal

The Gemini new Moon on May 30, 2022, closes out the month, just in time to guide us from one phase to another. As we end cycles and change seasons, there is an opening for an inner bloom, letting us become more receptive to moments of wisdom and inspiration, balancing work with play time, self-discovery time, and down time, and clearing our tendency toward escapism or disengaging so we can step into our destiny.

The new Moon in Gemini

The new Moon occurs when the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth. The side closest to us has no sunlight, blanketing the Moon and pulling us toward our inner light, drawing us to explore what feels right, what feels off, and what in our life requires more of our attention. New Moons pull us back in our own lane, allowing us access to be the changemakers in our own lives, bringing us shifts toward something new. Things are never hurried with new Moons.

Gemini is associated with the air element, our very source of life. It is something we cannot see yet we trust it to keep us alive. New Moons in this sign restore our faith, reset our course, and open us to yet another layer of what is possible for us.

In Latin, “gemini” means "twins." In Greek mythology, the twin half brothers Castor (mortal) and Pollux (immortal) asked to never be apart from one another. They were transformed into two of the brightest stars in the Gemini zodiac constellation with half on Earth and half in the heavens, revealing the duality of manifestation and allowing for an understanding that we are both body and spirit. As we take care of one, we take care of the other.

Geminis are full of childlike wonderment, forever seeking to learn new skills and uncover hidden gifts. They have a strong intuition and feel things long before they happen. They seem to be cut from the know with a level of inner trust and self-assurance that makes them feel safe to be around. They are genuinely themselves, and this offers others a chance to do the same.

They are compassionate but keep themselves safe by knowing and keeping their boundaries. They make friends easily and hold many in their hearts. Companionship, reconciliation, inclusivity, direction, security, and bringing people together are the effects we can feel during Gemini new Moons.

The body is our vehicle to see where the soul needs to have expression. Gemini is associated with the throat chakra, our home of self-expression. Finding a release for feelings, trapped information, and the parts of you that are not being expressed can activate new energy to flow in and old energy to flow out. Sigh it out, breathe it out, write it out, move it out through your physical body, talk it out with a safe person.

Mercury retrograde ends

With Mercury still retrograde under this new Moon, our attention is taken to the thoughts, beliefs, and feelings that are behind the most familiar vibrations within us. When we are unaware, when we hold onto the familiar, we create patterns that we experience in our life again and again. With Mercury, ruler of Gemini, still retrograde, we are being given an awareness that each moment is a chance to have a deeper connection to ourselves and others. We are offered an opportunity to access a level that has scared us in the past. Let yourself go there.

How to navigate the energies this week

Allow for more time in stillness, in gratitude for all that is here now, all that you have now, and all that you are not. Let the air be still and calm, bringing balance and harmony to your passage. Stay in touch with where your attention is required in your life, listening to where you are in your process. Honor the changes, the shifts, the breakthroughs. Let yourself seek new answers. Go beyond what you've ever imagined possible, unattached to the outcomes, grateful for the opportunity to be alive, to dream, and to excel.

Change is constant. Our resistance to it is optional. Under the influence of this new Moon, there is room for choice. Use this time to bring in love, compassion, and expansion. The more we use our new life skills, the more confident and comfortable we can become. Step away from what reduces you. Leave your heart open to going after everything and everyone who is for you. Travel with the light, leaving a trail of loved people, places, and things behind you.

Affirmation: In times like these, we learn to live again. Today my inner work will pay off.
