Are Wedding Advent Calendars the Perfect Bridal Shower Gift?

Advent calendars—the traditional, decorative calendars typically seen around the Christmas season that reveal a special gift each day—hold a special place in many of our hearts, be it the classic, chocolate-filled versions we breathlessly awaited as kids, or the luxurious, grown-up options on the market today. A perfect blend of nostalgia and a dose of daily joy from getting a little treat, the indulgence of advent calendars remains a highlight of the holiday season for many. Nonetheless, it came as something of a surprise to many when a completely different kind of countdown calendar started cropping up around another major celebratory moment: weddings.
Though certainly not as common as their Christmas-y counterparts, several companies have begun offering countdown calendars specifically geared toward weddings. Unlike the true "advent"-oriented calendars, which build the anticipation to the culmination of the holiday season, the wedding themed versions take a slightly different tack. Some, like the decorative, house-shaped, illustrated version from stationery brand The First Snow, are designed to serve not only as a countdown but as a keepsake, while others, like Pinch Provisions 7-day countdown and Sugarfina's candy-filled calendar, are meant to provide a touch of self-care or self-indulgence in the days leading up to walking down the aisle.
Since the concept of wedding advent calendars is still relatively new to the scene, it's not entirely clear if the concept is simply a cynical cash-grab or if these countdowns might yet be the start of a major new wedding trend. Either way, we have to say they'd make for an adorable bridal shower gift.
