During the coronavirus pandemic, it hasn’t been easy to get a shopping slot.

With more people than ever choosing to shop online rather than do their usual supermarket shop in store, there’s no wonder people are having to pull out all the stops to get one of the elusive slots.

Enter Shopping Slot.

The new online tool allows you to search for slots in a similar way you would shop on a comparison website.

The free site asks you to enter your postcode and then it offers you various options for slots currently available in your areas.

The online tool was created by Jason Moore - who has struggled to get shopping for vulnerable members of his family during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He teamed up with Apprentice star, Sabrina Stocker, to put the website in place quickly.

At the moment, there aren’t that many supermarkets loaded onto the website and it might be a nice idea for customers to be able to see local businesses who are delivery food as well. This is likely something the website will have in the pipeline for the future.

Although you can do a quick check for the slots at any time, there’s a monthly subscription cost of £2.19 if you wish to receive an email telling you when slots have become available in your area.

The website launched on 7 April and has already found 68,790 slots for people struggling to book deliveries and click and collect services.

If people choose to upgrade their membership to the £2.19 per month one, the founders hope that this will fund software that will help the website determine elderly and vulnerable customers so they receive priority slots.

The likes of Tesco and Ocado are running similar plans.

The company currently has a Go fund me page set up to encourage people to get behind the new idea and help more vulnerable people access slots.
