All the Ways Princess Eugenie and Beatrice Have an Easier Royal Life Than Prince Harry and William
If you're Princess Eugenie and about to get married in 2018's *second* royal wedding, you've probably had a hell of a time putting this thing together. From the elite guest list to the crazy high expectations of the public, this isn't just any wedding. But when it comes to other parts of royal life, Eugenie and her sister Beatrice (along with their other cousins) have a more relaxed role than Prince William and Prince Harry, who are the direct heirs to the throne. Here are all the ways that's true.
They're not as high in the order of succession, so the chances they'll ever be the reigning monarch are very slim.
As of right now, Prince William is second in line to the throne, then his children, then Prince Harry, then Beatrice and Eugenie's father, then the two of them, making them technically 8th and 9th in line. And! When Harry and Meghan Markle have children, they'll fall after him in the order, which will push Beatrice and Eugenie even further down the line into double digits. Womp womp!
That understandably takes some of the pressure off Beatrice and Eugenie, because a lot of sh*t would have to go down (god forbid) for either of them to ever take the throne.
They get to have regular jobs.
William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan devote their full lives to the family. Meghan famously quit her (successful) acting career to marry Harry and move to the U.K., for example, and KMid reportedly had a cake business in the works with her brother, but that never came to fruition.
Beatrice and Eugenie definitely have a role within the royal family, but on a smaller scale. They attend engagements and they're patrons of charities, like the Teenage Cancer Trust, but their entire job is not being a ~RoYaL~. They each have separate careers outside of their responsibilities.
Princess Eugenie is a director at the Hauser & Wirth art gallery, which has offices all over the world. They specialize in modern and contemporary art. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in 2016, she said that her role at the gallery included managing, events, planning special projects and working with the artists. That was two years ago, but chances are her role is still fairly similar today.
Princess Beatrice's current career is a little more confusing. She's worked at a venture capital firm called Sandbridge and now she reportedly works for software company called Afiniti helping to connect startups to potential backers. She even has a LinkedIn! What a time to be alive.
It could be argued that being a princess PLUS having a steady 9-5 is actually more challenging than being a full time royal, but you can debate that for yourself.
They can have public-facing social media accounts.
Prince William, Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle could probably have social media if they wanted to, but they stay away from it for personal reasons, royal reporter Omid Scobie told Cosmopolitan.com earlier this year. Prince Harry even had a super-private Facebook account a few years ago that leaked, so it's possible that's still true.
Princess Beatrice and Eugenie both have social media, though. Eugenie made her Instagram public earlier this year, with her first post being a clip from a speech she gave in the spring.

The news of her engagement broke shortly thereafter and her engagement photo was her second post, so it's possible that her upcoming wedding was the motivation behind making her profile profile.
Princess Beatrice has both Instagram and Twitter, but her Insta is private. Karlie Kloss spilled the beans on that earlier this summer when she posted a screenshot of a FaceTime and tagged @beayork.
Her Twitter is public, though, but it looks like she uses it mostly for promoting her charitable causes.

They don't require a security detail.
Unlike Will, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, Beatrice and Eugenie don't have 24-hour security. The family took it away in 2011 because it cost roughly $625,000 a year, and there was reportedly a bit of drama surrounding the whole thing. Their father, Prince Andrew, wanted them to have full security because they have the Her Royal Highness status. That argument didn't work out, and now they only get security when they go to official events on behalf of the family.
This may actually seem like a disadvantage, but if you've ever watched a movie in which the child of someone important (say, the POTUS) escapes their security detail to hit the bars on their own, you'll know that having a 24-hour bodyguard isn't all it's cracked up to be. Points to Bea and Eugenie on this one.
